Boca Raton is located in  Palm Beach County, FL, with a population of about 87,000 people. It has an area of about 18 square miles and it is part of the South Florida metropolitan area. It attracts numerous visitors given its famous restaurants, shopping centers, and beaches.

Boca Raton has warm winters and hot summers and over 300 days of sunshine per year. It is close to the cities of  West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale, which both have their own attractions and activities.

History

Boca Raton was founded on  May 11, 1915. The first settlers were the family of Mr. Sarah and Mr. Charles Mayer, who settled in an old Spanish Native American trail that led from Miami to Biscayne Bay (Miami). It was officially incorporated as a city on April 10, 1925.

Attractions

One of the main attractions in Boca Raton is its beautiful beaches, with over six miles of white sand and turquoise water. There are many resorts nearby for visitors to stay at during their visit. The famous Delray Beach Boardwalk is also close by, as well as the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

There are several major shopping centers in the area with stores like Nordstrom Rack, Saks 5th Avenue Off 5th, Whole Foods Market and more.
